LONDON CURIOUS will be a fully-fledged, immersive festival experience in the heart of the city. Curated by writer, reviewer and London Routemaster bus historian TRAVIS ELBOROUGH the event will feature a host of London luminaries, including: tales from the writer, filmmaker and doyen of occultist psychogeography IAIN SINCLAIR; author, broadcaster and recovering Style Guru PETER YORK will be taking us metaphorically underground on the Piccadilly Line; the legendary social historian DAN CRUIKSHANK will be riffing on London as “Sin City”; and author, historian and TV presenter KATE WILLIAMS will open the doors to “Royal London.”
Expect riverine insights from TED SANDLING, London’s most famous mud-larker. PATRICE LAURENCE will host a discussion on writing about London. STEFAN DICKERS, archivist at the Bishopsgate Institute, will “show and tell” urban artefacts from Suffragette sashes to early S & M phone cards.
There will be intimate theatre land walks by City Trails, traditional London street cries and costermonger songs from THE CHAPS CHOIR, the fabulous and fiery duo BETH COATES & ELIZABETH FOLEY will introduce us to a cast of London heroines from Boudicca to Rosalind Franklin and Young People’s Laureate of London, MOMTAZA MEHRI will be performing her unique verses.
From the underground and the underbelly to the grand and the glorious, from the revelatory to the rumbustious, LONDON CURIOUS promises a unique perspective on our great city.
