Chris McCabe is a widely-published poet and Joint Librarian of the Poetry Library in London. His first collection, The Hutton Inquiry, was welcomed by the Guardian as evidence of a poet who combined “the lower-case lightness of Tom Raworth and the northern comic realism of Simon Armitage”, and has been followed by books including Zeppelins,The Borrowed Notebook, Speculatrix, and The Restructure. He’s working on an ambitious series of poetic non-fiction books published by Penned In The Margins exploring the forgotten dead poets buried in the ‘Magnificent Seven’ cemeteries of London. In the Catacombs: A Summer Among the Dead Poets of West Norwood Cemeterywas released to acclaim in 2014, with Iain Sinclair describing it as “fine, achieved work, close-woven, elusive, engaged.” This was followed by Cenotaph South: Mapping the Lost Poets Of Nunhead Cemetery. His poetry is, by turns, romantic, politically engaged, elegiac, and funny.
Chris McCabe will be performing in the New River Press tent.
